FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Hollywood, CA - January 21, 1994 Gnome Productions' talented sound editors and sound designers have once again been nominated for their creative efforts, this time by the Int'l Teleproduction Society. The award is the coveted ITS Monitor Award for 'Best Sound for Feature Film'. The nominated achievement is 'Gettysburg' - a Turner Pictures production in conjunction with New Line Cinema and Esparza/Katz Productions. 'Gettysburg' is Director Ronald Maxwell's epic saga of the incredible battle at Gettysburg, PA that many historians feel was the decisive turning point in the American Civil War. Maxwell's visceral portrayal of the personal stories of some of the key players brings a personal insight to this monumental battle. Filming included a cast of thousands including many Civil War re-enactors who brought a unique historical reality to this film. Ted Turner also participated in the filming of several scenes, including the film's highlight moment, the battle that came to be called 'Pickett's Charge'.
